What is Naturopathic Nutrition?
Naturopathy is an ancient system of healing used for centuries. Drawing on Traditional and Oriental medicine, its’ primary focus is food and using it therapeutically. It may also draw upon the wisdom of herbs, flower remedies, nutritional supplementation and massage, as well as traditional approaches to detoxification, behavioral and lifestyle counseling.
I work integrating this approach with Western investigative and evidence-based Nutritional Therapy, providing a modern holistic approach to rebuild health, prevent illness and enable you to feel your best.
How long will it take for me to feel better?
Again, everyone is different, but most clients see a significant improvement within 3-6 weeks. After the initial appointment, I usually recommend 1 – 2 follow ups, depending on the condition treated and your progress. Some clients prefer more frequent, short appointments, particularly if they are making large lifestyle changes.
I’m worried you’re going to tell me off!
Years working in the arts mean I have encountered many not so admirable lifestyle habits! A return to health may mean starting with the smallest step, but you can be reassured that even what can seem like insignificant changes can have a big impact. And I promise I won’t tell you off.
I have an inherent fear of ‘health food’! Can you still help me?
We can work on a plan to maximize your likes that works for you. Life and good health are something to be enjoyed. A plan you hate wont be one you’ll want to follow long term. You’re welcome to contact me throughout to discuss how you’re getting on, or to tweak if something just isn’t working for you.
My life is already hectic and I’m not sure if I have the time for all of this.
The focus is to design a program that you can realistically stick to. For some this is harder than others, so we work with your lifestyle to introduce realistic changes where they’re needed. Many clients prefer remote appointments by Skype if this works better with your schedule or if you’re away from home.
I’m already on medication prescribed by my doctor. Is there any point in me seeing you?
Naturopathy and Nutritional Therapy are complementary therapies, which mean they can work alongside orthodox medicine. Many patients are referred by their physicians for chronic health problems that conventional medicine finds difficult to treat. These include allergies, fatigue, depression, stress, digestive and bowel disorders, hormonal imbalances, auto-immune conditions, migraine and skin disorders.
The ethics of complementary practice mean we would never advise you to discontinue or go against your doctors’ advise. We do however sometimes contact your GP or specialist, with your permission, to discuss treatment when relevant.
